The funding that you receive for supports and services in your NDIS plan is broken down into three different support budgets. Depending on your support needs, you might have one, two or all three included in your plan. The three types of support budget are:
Core Supports
Core Supports help you with everyday activities and includes four main support categories. Often these support categories aren’t broken down in your NDIS plan because they are flexible and for most participants funding can be switched between them. The four main support categories within Core Supports are:
Capacity Building Supports
These supports help you to become more independent over time and to work towards your long-term goals. Budgets under Capacity Building Supports can’t be moved from category to category as they can with Core Supports because Capacity Building Supports funding is not flexible. The main support categories within Capacity Building Supports are:
Capital Supports
This is funding for items that are often expensive, custom-made for you or considered “risky” because they require a professional to install, fit or show you how to use them. Items under Capital Supports are usually one-off, significant purchases. The budget in Capital Supports is not flexible and there are two funding categories:
MyPlace Portal
Within the three different support budgets (Core Supports, Capacity Building Supports and Capital Supports) each funding category has a corresponding name in the MyPlace portal. The following three easy tables can help you:
