Meet Mustafa
16 September 2022

Mustafa is 6 years old. Mustafa loves playing with other kids, trips to the park, climbing and toy cars.  Mustafa has autism and experiences challenges with social interaction, communication and learning.

Mustafa can have difficulty connecting with others and making friends and struggles with concentration which impacts his learning. Mustafa also needs support to improve everyday skills such as self-care.

Mustafa’s family is mum, dad, one brother and one sister. Mustafa can’t tolerate crowded places such as community events or shopping malls which restricts what the family do together. Mustafa’s disability also impacts his family relationships as he struggles to communicate and regulate his emotions.

When Mustafa and his family moved from Pakistan to Australia in 2018, they had no understanding of the NDIS or how to access the support that Mustafa needed.

InFocus Support Coordinator Mini has helped them to understand how to access the NDIS as well as various government, non-profit and community supports for Mustafa. Mini has connected Mustafa’s family with various service providers including allied health therapists to best meet Mustafa’s needs and help him to meet his goals.

Mustafa is working on improving his self-care, social skills, emotional understanding, cognitive skills and gross motor skills.
