3 tips for managing your NDIS plan
4 June 2021

You may feel that your NDIS plan is working well to help you achieve your goals – and that’s great – but there may be room for improvement too. Here are our top 3 tips from our team of Brisbane based Plan Managers to help ensure that you are getting the most out of your plan.

Tip 1 – Mid-year finance check

At the mid-point of your plan (6 months if it’s a year long plan or 12 months if it’s a 24 month plan), you should have spent around half of your total budget. If you have underspent then you are not claiming all the support that have funding for. If you have over-spent you may find yourself running out of funding towards the end of your plan. There may be variables to take into consideration such as larger investments in things like home or vehicle modifications so keep this in mind too.

Tip 2 – Keep up-to date with the NDIS

The NDIS is an evolving scheme which means that changes happen to try and made it work better, as the scheme matures and in response to events that impact people with disability. Such as the changes to the NDIS that happened in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to make funding more flexible. It’s a good idea to follow NDIS news on your social newsfeeds, check out the InFocus Facebook page and follow us, so that you can keep up to date with any changes.

Tip 3 – Use technology

Technology is your friend when it comes to your NDIS plan. Many Plan Managers like InFocus provide apps and other tools to help you keep track of your funding and supports received and remaining. When you are Plan Managed by InFocus, the Careview Advantage App will enable you to view and access all of the below from your smartphone or tablet in real time. At no cost to you the Careview Advantage App will:

- show you NDIS categories that InFocus is managing on your behalf
- enable you to view, approve or decline your invoices
- show you your claimed and remaining funding
- enable you to see supports delivered and supports yet to be delivered
- provide a monthly breakdown of services and supports delivered against your budget
